In India various personal laws are existent to practice and accordingly these major personal law legislation were enacted by the Parliament of India:-HINDU MARRIAGE ACT OF 1955, SPECIAL MARRIAGE ACT OF 1954, THE INDIAN CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE ACT OF 1872, MUSLIM LAWS, FOREIGN MARRIAGE ACT OF 1969, PARSI MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE ACT OF 1936 ETC.
Under the Hindu laws, marriage is considered as a Sacrament (Sanskar) which is holly and not like contract as Muslims Law. The Husband and wife keep together is like a law of nature and both of them are considered as complete one in Law. Saptapadi have some importance in Hindu Marriages. Basic forms of marriage are considered as eight parts under Hindu Marriage Laws.
During the British Period in 1860, the Indian Penal Code was formulated and this law becomes the backbone of Criminal Law Justice System in India. The other Uniform law were the procedure prescribed for Indian penal Code, 1860, is the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, which governs the procedural aspects of the Criminal Justice System.
